Wales-Lincoln Alumni Association

by Marjorie Lampe Moore

In 1931, Mr. Vestal wanted to start an alumni and we didn't know what an alumni was. Jean Owen Strait and Myself had the job to find all the addresses of the former graduates, and at the time there wasn't nearly so many graduates as now....

Our first banquet was held in the old gym and dinner was served by Wales Ladies Aide. The ladies from Gomer Ladies Aid took turns with Wales ladies to serve the Jr-Sr Banquet and our alumni.

Our class of 1931 had 12 members, it was the largest class at that time from Wales Lincoln. No one from that class had perfect attendance for the past 70+ years. Our class had 11 members at the first meeting. (I) don't recall what the total attendance was for that first banquet.

NOTE from '06 committee: As has been the procedure for the past several years, we will be honoring the 50 year classes, but this year, and perhaps forward, we also want to have special recognition on honor for the 75 year classes. That means the class of 1931 will also be honored at th '06 Banquet. ...more later.
